For those who thought to do the OCM (Oracle Certified Master) 12c exam and were performing tests at OL6 platforms e/or worked in projects where you had to install Oracle database 12c on operating systems OL6 this is no longer possible at 19C database version. Regardless of the new features, software libraries and so on one difference from the previous release made me think – OL6 isn’t supported at this database version. To apply patch manually, you have to look into README file for the patch. These steps use 19.5 RU but same steps can be followed for latest RU.
The Oracle Software is not completely installed, just unzipped. In this post I’ll be sharing steps to patch manually Oracle Software only. Execute orainstRoot.sh and root.sh as root user. After click on install the ORACLE 19c database software installation started. I am not sure if Wifi NIC and Physical NIC be enabled at the same time in Linux. I disabled the Wifi adapter in this laptop, enabled Physical (Wired) NIC and assigned a static IP to it and the blank screen and slowness was resolved. This was because I was using DHCP IP assigned by Wifi router. If everything is runing good in oracle 19c setup it is showing below screen. When installing 19c Database software using runInstaller (Oracle Linux 7.6) in my test laptop, I noticed the blank screen issue. For instance, if you are going to install Oracle database on Linux, it is recommended to check the “Database Installation Guide for Linux” and check the operating system checklist.
